_GB WhatsApp

If you’ve ever wished WhatsApp had more features—like hiding last seen from specific people, locking chats with a custom PIN, downloading someone’s status, or applying fully personalized themes—you’ve probably come across an app called GB WhatsApp.

I’ve used both official WhatsApp and GB WhatsApp on separate devices for several months, and in this article, I’ll share what GB WhatsApp is, how it compares to the official app, and whether it’s actually safe to use.

What Exactly Is GB WhatsApp?

GB WhatsApp is a modified (modded) version of the official WhatsApp made by independent developers.

It is not created by Meta (WhatsApp Inc.) and isn’t available on the Google Play Store or Apple App Store. You can only download it from third-party websites as an APK file.

The idea behind GB WhatsApp is simple:

Take the official WhatsApp → unlock hidden features → add customization → remove limitations.

And honestly, yes, it does come with a bunch of very attractive features.

My Experience Using GB WhatsApp – The Good Stuff

Here are the features that genuinely impressed me and made the app feel more flexible than the official version:

  1. Customization & Themes

You can change:

  • the entire app theme
  • icon styles
  • chat backgrounds
  • tick styles (single tick, double tick, blue tick)

It makes the app feel way more personal and modern compared to the standard green UI of official WhatsApp.

  1. Privacy Controls

This was the main reason I tried GB WhatsApp. It lets you:

  • freeze your last seen(appear offline even when online)
  • hide “typing…”
  • hide “recording…”
  • disable blue ticks for specific chats
  • view deleted messages and deleted statuses

As someone who values privacy, these options were super convenient.

  1. Chat Features Not Found in Official WhatsApp
  • Send larger files
  • Send more photos at once
  • Schedule messages
  • Auto-reply (similar to WhatsApp Business)
  • Built-in app lock
  • Download anyone’s status

For daily use, these features are genuinely useful.

But… Is GB WhatsApp Safe? Here’s My Honest Take

Now comes the part that many people ignore.

❗ 1. It’s Not Official

Since GB WhatsApp isn’t developed by WhatsApp Inc., there is no guarantee your data is safe.

Messages might pass through third-party servers, and there’s no transparency about how your data is stored or handled.

❗ 2. Risk of Account Ban

WhatsApp has officially warned users that using unofficial mods can lead to:

  • temporary ban
  • or even permanent account termination

I didn’t get banned personally, but I’ve seen reports of others who did.

❗ 3. No Security Updates

Official WhatsApp pushes regular updates to fix vulnerabilities.
GB WhatsApp depends on individual mod developers, and updates come slowly—or sometimes not at all.

This means you may:

  • run an outdated version
  • be exposed to malware-injected APKs
  • face compatibility issues

❗ 4. APK Download Risk

Since you can only get it from third-party websites, you can’t be 100% sure the APK is clean.

Some sites bundle spyware or adware into modified APKs.

GB WhatsApp vs Official WhatsApp – My Verdict

GB WhatsApp (My User Experience)

Pros:

  • Much more flexible
  • Great privacy controls
  • Theme customization
  • Useful extra features

Cons:

  • Not safe for sensitive conversations
  • No guarantee of data protection
  • Possible account ban
  • Must download from unknown websites

Official WhatsApp

Pros:

  • End-to-end encryption
  • Safe & trusted
  • Regular updates
  • Better long-term stability

Cons:

  • Limited customization
  • No advanced privacy settings

Should You Use GB WhatsApp? My Honest Advice

If you want fun extra features, don’t care much about data privacy, and use it for casual conversations—GB WhatsApp App is enjoyable. I honestly liked it.

But if your WhatsApp contains:

  • business chats
  • private conversations
  • sensitive personal information
  • financial codes or personal data

Then I strongly recommend sticking with official WhatsApp.

GB WhatsApp is like a powerful but unofficial tool—fun to use, but risky if you depend on security.

Final Thoughts

After using both apps, I eventually switched back to the official WhatsApp on my main phone and kept GB WhatsApp only on a secondary device for testing.

It’s great for features, but long term, security beats convenience.

If you want a modded experience, use it with caution—and never for sensitive information.
